CONTEMPORARY ART

rt made by the generations of artists that have emerged since 1945 is generally considered “contemporary art.” Contemporary Latin American art encompasses over 50 years of artistic production from over 20 countries. Each of the countries in the region has its own unique history, culture, and artistic traditions.

Art from Latin America is made using all media: painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, printmaking, video works, installations, conceptual practice, and performance. The wide range of geographies and styles makes contemporary art difficult to categorize.
